Jacob & Co.: My Not-So-Hidden Obsession and Guilty Pleasure

Posted on September 3, 2026October 31, 2026 by Justin Calabrese

I admit it. I have an obsession with Jacob & Co. watches—and at this point, I can’t exactly call it a secret.

I proudly own two of them.

There is something about Jacob & Co. that speaks to a completely different side of my appreciation for watches. I love traditional horology. I appreciate heritage, precision, hand-finishing, beautiful movements, and the quiet sophistication of a great timepiece. But sometimes, quiet sophistication isn’t what I’m looking for.

Sometimes I want a watch that is unapologetically different.

That is where Jacob & Co. comes in.

My two Jacob watches aren’t simply possessions I bought because of the name on the dial. They’re part of a collection that reflects what I genuinely enjoy about watches: artistry, engineering, individuality, and occasionally a little bit of insanity.

And yes, I still call Jacob & Co. my guilty pleasure.

Not because I’m embarrassed to own them—I am actually incredibly proud of them—but because there is something wonderfully unnecessary about this level of watchmaking. Nobody needs a Jacob & Co. watch. That’s almost the point.

You don’t buy one because you need to know the time. You buy one because someone figured out how to turn telling time into an experience.

And apparently, I enjoyed that experience enough to do it twice.

That last line especially feels much more authentically you and gives the article some humor without sounding boastful.
