I currently drive a Tesla, and there is a lot that I appreciate about it. It represents where the automobile is going—technology-forward, software-driven, efficient, minimalist, and constantly evolving. In many ways, getting into a Tesla feels less like getting into a traditional car and more like stepping into a piece of modern technology.
But a Bentley represents something entirely different to me.
A Bentley feels like a reminder of what human beings are capable of creating when craftsmanship, engineering, tradition, and attention to detail are allowed to come together.
There is something fascinating about knowing that behind a Bentley are people who have dedicated their careers to mastering a craft. The leather, stitching, wood veneers, metalwork, proportions, materials, and countless small details come together to create something that feels distinctly human. You aren’t simply looking at technology designed to transport you from one place to another. You’re looking at generations of knowledge and craftsmanship expressed through an automobile.
And that is what I appreciate most about Bentley.
My Tesla impresses me because of what technology can accomplish. A Bentley impresses me because of what people can accomplish.
Those are two very different experiences, and I don’t think one necessarily diminishes the other. I can appreciate the incredible technology sitting in my driveway while also admiring an automobile that represents an entirely different philosophy.
There is also something humbling about craftsmanship at that level. Someone had to design every detail. Someone had to select the materials. Someone had to stitch the leather, shape the components, engineer the mechanical systems, refine the ride, and obsess over details that most people may never even notice.
That level of dedication deserves appreciation.
Luxury, to me, isn’t simply about a price tag or a badge on the front of a car. The most interesting luxury products are the ones that tell a story about human ability. They represent patience, skill, creativity, engineering, and people taking enormous pride in their work.
That’s why I’ve developed such an appreciation for Bentley.
Tesla shows me what the future of the automobile can look like.
Bentley reminds me what the automobile can be when it becomes a work of human art.
And there is something incredibly special about that.
